Another Plain Day--Beauty in the Ordinary

Some paintings surprise you.
When I started Another Plain Day, I didn’t have a clear vision in mind. Instead, I started to throw paint down freely without overthinking, without worrying about the final result. It wasn’t until later that I realized how much that messy underpainting would shape the finished piece.

Despite using a limited palette (red, blue, and yellow), the final result was a landscape bursting with color, layered with depth that only happens when you let go and trust the process. The impressionistic strokes give it an almost storybook-like charm, the kind of scene you might stumble upon in a quiet village. The houses are painted a little haphazardly, as if they’ve settled into the land over time. There’s no livestock in sight, but I can imagine them there. I can see people going about their daily lives, the breeze carrying the scent of fresh earth and straw as they tend to their gardens and chores.
Despite its title, Another Plain Day doesn’t feel plain at all. I chose to call it that, though, because I wanted to bring forth how vibrant “just another day” can feel. It feels alive and full of movement. It’s a reminder that even in the most ordinary moments, there is beauty. Sometimes, all you have to do is look a little closer.
